We understand the importance of providing effective and authentic learning experiences for your students. Our priorities as a team are to help support your pupils to engage with their learning, and to help them with making informed next step decisions by raising awareness of the variety of options available to them. Below are the existing sessions we offer, however we are happy to work with you to develop sessions to meet the needs of your cohort.
Specialist Sessions
Year 7-11 (Suggestions 2-4 hours) Anti-Vaping Campaign
Working to raise awareness of the dangers of vaping, students awareness of the dangers of vaping is assessed, with information presented, Students are then encouraged to design a marketing campaign which can then be used to target peers. Materials produced are then sent on Public Health England. This could be linked to PSHE, Health and Social Care and Business studies.
Year 7-11 (Suggestions 1-4 hours) Developing Technology in the NHS and Care
Looking at how digital technology is evolving, and the impact this has on patient care, it explores recent developments and how this is impacting on provision as well as creation o jobs. Students are asked to investigate how technology can be developed to support individuals with a specific health requirement. This could be linked to information technology and digital literacy.
Year 7-11 (Suggested 1 hour) Communication in Care
Considering how Verbal and non-verbal communication impact upon understanding, this session looks at how communications skills can be adapted to meet different needs, and the importance of clarity in care. Designed to develop students confidence. This could be linked to promoting oracy and literacy skills, or the rough English as a subject.
Year 7-11 (Suggested 1 hour) Exploring the Organisation
Aimed towards Business and Enterprise students, we explore the structure and Functions of the NHS as one of the biggest employers globally. Activity focus will be on the importance of recruitment to an organisation, and challenging students expectations of the workplace’
Short Sessions
These can be digital (if you want the whole school to access) or in person. We would anticiapte 20 to 30 minutes, primary aimed for Assemblies.
1. Careers in the NHS and Care An introduction to the different types of careers and routes within the NHS, this highlights the benefits of the organisation, and how the industry no longer focuses on ‘one career of life’.
2. My future self Considering different pathways, and also allow students the opportunity to understand the importance of developing transferrable skills
3. NHS Cadets Introducing the NHS cadets to students, and explaining how this organisation can support with developing transferrable skills for employment.
4. Contextualising Maths Raising awareness of the importance of numeracy skills in the NHS and care across a wide variety of job roles.
